This is our Trezor Model T review for 2023, the reliable and one of the most popular and trusted hardware wallets today!
Trezor Model T is the second generation of Trezor hardware wallets, the first being Trezor One. It will protect not just your coins and tokens but also passwords from theft.
About Trezor
Trezor was created and developed by SatoshiLabs, which was legally incorporated in 2013, and in 2014 Trezor One was born.
Following the initial success, Trezor Model T was created and started shipping in 2018.
The company now covers over 220 countries while Trezor Model T supports over 1300 coins and tokens.
Trezor Model T Features
Trezor Model T has a bright color LCD touchscreen through which interface you verify and approve all transactions. Your private keys never leave your device and are never exposed.
It’s very convenient to carry it with you with a 64 mm x 39 mm screen and 96 g weight, even in airplanes as the X-Rays won’t hurt it.
For the last 8 years, Trezor code was audited and verified by security researchers, having nothing to hide and being open source. As a matter of fact with over 40+ source code repositories, Trezor code powers a great number of the hardware wallets on the market today.
The password manager is a great feature to keep your hard-to-remember passwords fully safe – and hide them from hackers and curious eyes also.
Since being one of the most popular hardware wallets it can be paired and used with many software wallets and web platforms.
Trezor Model T supports all major operating systems: Windows (Windows 10 or newer), macOS (version 10.11 and higher), Linux, and as for mobile devices – Android.
iOS, Windows Phone, and ChromeOS are not supported.
It’s very easy to set up and start using it.
How To Set Up And Use Trezor Model T
In a package, you get a Trezor device, a USB cable, 2 recovery phrase sheets, a cool Trezor-shaped magnet you can stick somewhere and hang the device on it, starting guide, and a couple of stickers.
Since running Cada.news and having a bunch of hardware wallets and stickers my friend asked me why I don’t use the stickers cause some of them – like Trezor ones are quite cool. Well, I don’t want people to know I own hardware wallets! 🙂
Ok back to business.
Remove the safety seal from the Trezor USB port and connect your Trezor device with the USB cable to PC/Laptop.
Go to trezor.io/start and click Trezor Model T
Click check for devices.
A new window prompts as your device is recognized, click on TREZOR and continue.
Click Install firmware.
The Trezor will reboot.
Let’s now create a wallet.
You now use the touchscreen on your device.
And now the backup.
You will be presented with 12 words which are the recovery seed you write down on the recovery sheet you got in the package or any other paper. Never keep it on any device or share it with anyone.
Using this recovery seed you can recover your Trezor wallet and coins anytime if it gets broken, stolen, or anything.
Now set up the PIN CODE. You will use it to unlock the device.
Choose the set of numbers at your wish. You can write it down but even if you forget it or enter wrongly a couple of times you can use the recovery seed to access the wallet again.
You will use it often and remember it as I did probably.
You can also name your device.
That’s pretty much it. You use the website to communicate with your device, make updates, and so on, and the device itself can communicate with other platforms and wallets.
Let’s add some coins.
Trezor works with the Trezor Suite and supports over 1300 coins and tokens. I just made a screenshot of some of them from the list on the website drop-down menu where you get to see addressees you can share freely to receive or send cryptocurrency.
Let’s do Litecoin $LTC, as it moves fast with low fees.
Done. I now have my Litecoin safe.
Let’s now try to send it.
And this is where hardware wallets come to play.
I click send but I need to confirm the transaction on my Trezor device manually. It is then signed internally using my private key which is never exposed.
And that’s the point of owning a hardware wallet and keeping you in charge of your coins.
Approved using the touchscreen and sent.
On the Trezor website, you are also able to directly purchase and exchange cryptocurrency in a safe environment and store it on your hardware device.
Trezor Suite
You can use both the Trezor Suite web version and the Trezor Suite Desktop version (Windows, macOS, Linux) to manage your assets and access additional features.
You can combine both website and Trezor Suite app as they are fully synced and will recognize your Trezor device automatically.
Trezor Specially made accessories to protect your Recovery Phrase
In order to protect the 24 words recovery phrase Trezor has also prepared some really serious products for the crypto holders.
