Keystone Pro hardware wallet is using an air-gapped state of security which is based on encrypted QR code transmission. This way, the potential malware infiltration risks, like with the hardware wallets using USB or Bluetooth, are eliminated.
Keystone Pro works with the Keystone app (iOS and Android devices).
Firmware is open source, along with the code audit report, and you can check it out on GitHub.
It has a very nice 4-inch color touchscreen, which makes all information and signing transactions very visible and easy to use.
In the Keystone Pro pack, you get Keystone Pro, an AAA battery holder, a rechargeable battery, and a charging cable.
Supported coins and wallets integration
Keystone Pro supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, XRP, Avalanche (AVAX), Litecoin, Cronos (CRO), Tron (TRX), Near, Polkadot (MATIC), Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Cosmos (ATOM), DASH, Aptos.
Since it can be integrated with software wallets like MetaMask, Keplr, Solflare, XRP Toolkit, Rabby, Electrum, Specter, SolFlare… it can be used, in fact, for a much bigger number of crypto assets, NFTs, and tokens, but also for DeFi and Staking purposes.
Keystone also enables the use of the Bitcoin-only firmware version, which minimizes the code and attacks possibilities for Bitcoin-only users.
Many Keystone Pro Features
Keystone is a hierarchical deterministic HD hardware wallet compliant with BIP 32/39/44. It uses a Secure Element for TRNG (from which the master key is derived).
You can create a Hidden wallet. Set the Pattern lock.
Setting the Fingerprint lock will also enable you to sign the transactions that way.
For the first time, considering all the hardware wallets, I got the Guarantee card. You can fill it up and return the device with it if you encounter any issues.
Keystone Pro has an anti-tamper self-destruct mechanism, if the device is disassembled (like the tries of the forceful offline attacks), the recovery seed and master key will automatically be wiped from the Secure Element!
You get easy-to-follow instructions in the package on how to set up and upgrade your Keystone wallet.
How do you sign the transactions?
As I said in the intro, Keystone uses QR code transmission. You scan the QR code of the transaction with your Keystone Pro app, which is then considered as an unsigned transaction.
You then use the Keystone hardware wallet camera to scan the presented QR code in order to sign it with your private key. It is then considered a signed transaction and sent back to the blockchain!
This is what an air-gapped state of security is all about. Your hardware wallet with private keys never gets in contact with online connections like Bluetooth, WiFi, etc., and in that way keeps your crypto assets fully safe.
